Several architectonic vibrate the beauty of Porto.
Few main places are the avenue in the cities center
Avenida dos Aliados, the magnificent gardens of
Palacio de Cristal, and Romanic churches to the
myriads of painted tile-adorned interior and exterior
walls that appear in both interiors, in the São
Bento Station, and exteriors, in the church of
Santo Ildefonso. A guided visit to the old city's
stock exchange (Bolsa), and the Arab Room, is
a gem that any visitor shouldn't miss.
Cathedral
The Porto Cathedral is situated on a hill in the
city's oldest district. The Cathedral is a 12th
and 13th century work.
Paço
Episcopal
The palace "Paço Episcopal",
is a 15th century Gothic style construction. There
is a square from where visitors have a great landscape
view of the city's oldest district.
Douro River
The Douro river has been the best communication
channel with the rest of the world. The Atlantic
Ocean lies a few miles distance from Porto.

In 1841, the Porto Stock Exchange Building was
constructed, and it is the best symbol of the
industry and business sector.
Palácio de Cristal
It is a great design; the citizens of Porto are
called "Tripeiros".
"Palácio de Cristal" fountain
In front of the "Palácio de Cristal"
there is an interesting garden with some fountains.
Street
In the Costa Verde Region there are some other
cities. Barcelos --Medieval walled town with a
dungeon--, Guimarães --Portugal's birthplace,
with medieval castle and walls--, Ponte de Lima
--Beautiful small town with a Roman bridge and
medieval towers--, Viana do Castelo --famous for
its handicrafts and colorful regional costumes--
and the most beautiful of the region's cities:
Braga --known as the Saint city, this city can
be visited on Virtourist.com too.
"Praça
da Liberdade"
One of the most important constructions is the
Aliados Avenue. English Barry Parker began its
construction in 1915, and the architect Marques
da Silva finished it --da Silva studied architecture
in Paris.
The Beach
The beach of Porto is not an exceptional one.
The sand is somewhat rocky, and sometimes its
water is polluted.
Street
Market
The most important event that takes place in Porto
is the "Oporto International Film Festival",
especially for fantasy and science-fiction films
in its Official Competitive section.
Porto has several museums, concert halls, theaters
cinemas, libraries and book shops. The most well
known museums of Oporto are the Soares dos Reis
National Museum (Museu Nacional de Soares dos
Reis) and the Museum of Contemporary Art of the
Serralves Foundation (Museu de Arte Contemporânea).
The city has concert halls of a rare beauty and
elegance like the Coliseu do Porto, an exquisite
example of the Portuguese decorative arts, the
Rivoli theatre and the more recent Batalha cinema.
